This was a very hard ride. 80 miles with rolling hills and constant headwinds. A nice surprise was the last 10 miles into Walker, MN as they just opened that section of the Paul Bunyan Bike Trail. Jim and Bob were very strong today. Brad and Craig are in earnest training.

The Cold War

The new Ronald Reagan Minuteman Missile State Historic Site actually consists of two sites telling the story of the Cold War years in North Dakota. They are the Oscar-Zero Missile Alert Facility (above) and the November-33 Launch Facility. They are the last remnants of the 321st Missile Wing, a cluster of intercontinental ballistic missile launch sites that were spread over a 6,500-square-mile area around the Grand Forks Air Force Base. The Oscar Zero Launch Control Center and the November-33 Missile Facilty played an integral part in the Cold War in North Dakota and the world.

This is the high-lite of the day. Craig is standing in front of the confluence of the Yellowstone river (which starts in Yellowstone National Park) and the mighty Missouri River (which has its origins in western Montana)

104 miles in 4 hours and 47 minutes! That averages out to 21 plus miles per hour. In Culbertson outside the King's Inn where the group will be bunking.

Layover

At this point in the ride, Craig has ridden a total of 884 miles in 11 days. He is now on a layover day in the beautiful Glacier National Park and will head out tomorrow on a 70 mile ride to Shelby, Montana.

Its a nice day for cycling over in Montana with a nice 60 - 65 degree weather at the current time. It keeps you calm, COOL, and collected. Today the group starts their journey in Kalispell, Montana traveling through Columbia Falls, West Glacier, Glacier National Park, and finishing up in Apgar, Montana where they will bunk for the evening. It's a nice and short 35 mile ride with a beautiful atmosphere!

At the end of the day, the group will have traveled a total of 808 miles in 10 days!

Washington
